Shalini Katyal, MD
Dr. Shalini Katyal is an experienced board-certified psychiatrist and was voted Best Psychiatrist of Weston 2024.
Dr Katyal completed her Residency in Adult Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she was selected as Chief Resident for her leadership and clinical excellence.
Her training also includes Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training (PPC) from the Florida Psychoanalytic Institute, which allows her to approach mental health from a holistic, comprehensive perspective and provide exceptional care to her patients.
Dr Katyal specializes in integrating medication and psychotherapy to not only alleviate distressing symptoms but also promote lasting recovery and overall wellness for her patients. With over 20 years of experience as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, she has worked with a diverse range of patients, from those in institutionalized settings such as the State hospital with severe psychopathology to individuals navigating their first psychiatric episode in an outpatient environment. Her practice has a particular focus on women’s mental health, and she is highly skilled in addressing complex symptom patterns associated with depression and anxiety.
Dr Katyal is a highly trained TMS provider and specializes in the treatment of resistant depression. She received her TMS training from Harvard Medical School. Since 2019, Dr. Katyal has personally administered TMS to hundreds of patients, achieving outstanding results. Her wide experience across various TMS machines in both research and clinical settings led her to adopt the advanced MagVenture TMS system, enhanced with MRI-assisted Neuronavigation system to provide her patients with cutting edge care. This enables her to deliver superior outcomes for her patients.
Dr. Katyal’s lifelong commitment to medicine and mental health care started from the moment she experienced her first psychiatry rotation. She is dedicated to helping individuals achieve growth, fulfillment, and a sense of well-being. Each patient’s journey is unique, and she works closely with them to develop a customized biopsychosocial treatment plan.
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr. Katyal has spent the past 15 years teaching medical students and mental health professionals, while also making valuable contributions to psychiatry research. She is dedicated to continuing her mission of offering compassionate, innovative mental health care to help patients lead their best lives.
